Tonight marks the second night of the 2023 WWE draft. The annual draft provides WWE with the opportunity to hit the reset button and refresh their programming, treating fans to new potential matchups and alliances between superstars. He explained that the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been drafted to Smackdown, he will exclusively be on the blue brand going forward.
Monday Night Rollins Continues
Tonight's first round of the WWE draft saw two selections made from both Smackdown and Raw. Smackdown selected WWE United States Champion Austin Theory and Charlotte Flair while Raw selected Seth Rollins and WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Rhea Ripley.
Seth Rollins has been a top star on Monday Night Raw, and with his popularity at an all-time high, that seems unlikely to change going forward.
Could Seth Rollins Become The Inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
Since the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will be on Smackdown, that means that the World Heavyweight Championship will go to a superstar on Monday Night Raw. It's hard not to see Seth Rollins as a favorite to win, but he has some stiff competition alongside him; Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre, two serious world championship contenders, were drafted to Monday Night Raw this past Friday. Also joining Seth on Raw will be Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio of the Judgement Day.
Unfortunately, it will be hard for fans to see the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as anything other than a second-place prize. Hopefully, in the right hands, the new championship will gain some prestige.
