On Wednesday morning, WWE announced that they have released Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Santana Garrett, Ruby Riott, Murphy and Lana.
Vince McMahon and company officials have performed a long series of superstar and employee cuts over the past two months, but Wednesday's news caught many WWE fans by surprise. There weren't exactly any major hints that either of these talents were about to be released, after all. Strowman's release was especially shocking to many because he had spent considerable time in the main event scene.
Shortly after his release, Strowman took to Twitter to post a short statement:
Apparently, Strowman's WWE contract paid him over $1 million annually, and his release reportedly didn't come as a surprise to some company talents. He was in the midst of a of a four-year deal that was signed in July 2019.

Strowman signed with the WWE eight years ago. He debuted on the main roster in Aug. 2015, revealing himself as the new member of The Wyatt Family. However, he left the group after moving over to Raw at the WWE draft. He started to receive a main event singles push in 2018, winning the 50-man Royal Rumble at the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view and later the men's Money in the Bank ladder match.
Strowman won four total championships in WWE (one Universal, one Intercontinental and two Raw Tag Team titles). He also won the the 2019 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35.
Strowman's Final WWE Months
Strowman's last WrestleMania match turned out to be a thrilling bout against Shane McMahon, whom he defeated. The Monster Among Men briefly entered a tag team partnership and program with Drew McIntyre. His final WWE match was an exciting three-way bout with McIntyre and Bobby Lashley at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view. The latter defeated Strowman to retain his championship.
