Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero are two of the greatest professional wrestlers in the history of WWE. The Olympic Hero was pushed to the main-event scene right upon his debut and while it took Eddie some time, he too reached the pinnacle of the industry. After his short yet perfect championship feud with Brock Lesnar, Guerrero versus Angle was booked for WrestleMania 20 and beyond.

Needless to say, the two men put on a classic, and the champion, Eddie Guerrero emerged victorious. The two would continue to feud over the next few years, and at SummerSlam 2004, Guerrero and Angle met in the ring again and put on the night's best match.
Eddie Guerrero Accused Kurt Angle Of Being Rough With Him
The chemistry was apparent, and it comes as no surprise that the two were incredibly close friends and fans of each other. Kurt Angle mentioned during an appearance on Chris Jericho’s podcast that he used to be a big fan of Eddie Guerrero and hailed him as one of the best wrestlers in the world.
That being said, these two did have a little altercation backstage once upon a time. It can get heated among friends as well, and on that particular day, a little misunderstanding led to Angle and Eddie brawling…. sort of. Angle recounted this story during the podcast appearance, and it goes something like this.
The plan was to deliver a beatdown on the babyface during the last segment of the show. Angle was flanked by his henchmen, Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns, and his lackeys did the work for him. The Olympic Hero then waited for Eddie at Gorilla Position, but when he came along, he was not happy. Guerrero accused his friend of working stiff during the beatdown and Angle defended himself that he never even touched him, that his henchmen did all the work.
Eddie Guerrero Tried To Take Kurt Angle Down Backstage
Guerrero rejected this and pinned the blame on him. Angle noted that this was the fifth disagreement in the past month, and so he decided to do something about it. He shoved Guerrero, not once but twice. In response, Eddie went for a double-leg on him. Yes, he double-legged an actual Olympic wrestler.
In response, Angle went for the front-face lock and attempted to choke Eddie out. This little melee got the attention of the Big Show, and per Angle, Big Show picked him up with one hand by his singlet and walked him over to the side of the room, separating him from Eddie. Big Show then did the same to Eddie, picking him up and placing him in the other corner of the room. He told them to calm down as Guerrero walked off toward the lockers.

Initially, Angle was pissed at the Big Show but once he sat down backstage he started feeling bad for what had happened. The Olympic Hero got up and approached Guerrero in the locker room with the intention of apologizing.
Kurt Angle And Eddie Guerrero Were Like Brothers Who Fought Then Made Up
Kurt Angle extended his apology, but Eddie said he was not ready to forgive Angle just yet. That did it and Angle started swinging. Guerrero fought back, and this time, JBL got in between them and told them to cool it down. JBL was thoroughly amazed at the fact that Guerrero tried to start a wrestling match with a gold medalist. Understandably so.
The next day, all was good, as if the little skirmish never happened in the first place. Angle mentioned that he considered Eddie a brother, much like Eric Angle, so while the two would get into fights and yell at each other, all was quickly forgiven, and they went back to being friends. He also mentioned that Eddie got mad at him about a million times and admitted that his refusal to accept his apology got him pretty mad as well.
Bruce Prichard was a witness to this initial melee and recalled it as a short skirmish that started because Eddie was a little pissed that Angle wasn’t listening to him. Regardless, it all ended well, and this little altercation didn’t put any sort of dent on the friendship. The two performed together several times after the backstage skirmish and their chemistry was on point and stellar as usual.
