Just when you thought the All Out drama from last year was water under the bridge, and there were even reports CM Punk wanted to return to AEW, the pot has well and truly been stirred back up again. Punk posted a lengthy response to comments made by Dave Meltzer, labeling Chris Jericho a stooge and claiming he was effectively forced to work hurt in the infamous squash match against Jon Moxley last summer.
Moxley Responds
Although Moxley gives off an aura suggesting he might not have even heard about Punk's comments, let alone respond to them, the former AEW Champion was a guest on The Sessions this week. Hosted by his wife Renee Paquette, Moxley had his say on what exactly happened last summer from his perspective, revealing that he wasn't technically an AEW employee for most of it, including when he was the interim AEW Champion.

“The entire summer, I was not under contract. No contract. Free agent. I was at SummerSlam weekend, fucking wrestling Desperado and shit, the day of SummerSlam... I could have walked into SummerSlam that night with the AEW fucking belt,” Moxley revealed (H/T to Cultaholic).
Working Without A Contract
Moxley explained his contract was coming up when he got out of rehab last year and AEW added time on to make up for it, adding that he appreciated that. “I'm bending over backwards for Tony and for [Punk] and for the company and everybody. I didn't have to. I didn't have to do shit.” Moxley also added of all the places he's worked throughout his career, he's “never seen so much bullshit drama in one place” than he has done in AEW.
Moxley did also highlight that he didn't want to talk poorly of AEW, but did want to get that last comment off his chest. As for where that leaves Punk, despite reports he wants back in, it's beginning to feel a lot like there aren't many people in AEW who would be happy to see him walk back through the door. You can seemingly add Moxley to that list which likely includes Chris Jericho and The Elite, even though Kenny Omega recently wished him well without naming Punk.
