An emotional John Cena made his return to WWE during Monday's Raw and fans might have been slightly taken aback by how emotional the 16-time World Champion was when he made his way out from behind the curtain to address the live crowd. He took a moment to look at the camera like he often does, but this time was a bit different. Cena had trouble holding back tears and he explained why in a post on social media on Tuesday. He wrote, "Last night was the first time I entered the arena and had the thought that it might be the last time. I’ll never be able to put into words how much I love the #WWEUniverse," Cena has essentially acknowledged that this could be it. Clearly, it's not necessarily true that he didn't think he would ever walk out to a live WWE audience again, because the storyline was for him to accept a match against Austin Theory and wrestle the United States Champion at WrestleMania 39. That said, Cena knows his time is coming to a close, something he evidently made sure Cody Rhodes was aware of when he said he couldn't make him a promise that another match was in the cards after this.

Cena Making Us Believe His Window Is Closing

Cena is an actor now, so it's possible he was just playing up the fact he was taking this match with Theory as a spur-of-the-moment thing. It the eyes of the audience and when it comes to his character, we're to believe this could have been his final appearance. The question now will be, how will Cena react when he does finally have his last match? His tweet seems to suggest that day could be coming soon.
