The 2020 Royal Rumble is now in the books and WWE put on an incredible event that has left everyone talking. The show had everything that fans could have wanted, from some fantastic filler matches to two excellent Rumbles.
With a star-making performance, some amazing NXT interactions, several good surprises, and one major unexpected return, the show was one for the history books. From the bottom of the card to the main event, the show really was full of excellent wrestling.

The Royal Rumble is such a major night on WWE's calendar that it's crucial the company gets it right, and thankfully in 2020 they did just that. Here is every single match from the show ranked from worst to best.
7 Sheamus vs Shorty G
This was the first match of the entire night on the Kick-Off show and it felt like it belonged in that spot. There hasn't been too much storyline investment here outside of Sheamus simply bullying Shorty G and that is what was expected to happen in this match.
The Celtic Warrior sold and worked a slight injury angle within the match probably more than most people expected. However, he, of course, came out on top in what was his first official match back.

The pace of the match never really got going and this felt like a box standard television match rather than a top quality PPV bout. It certainly felt like they could have done a little more with their time.
6 Bayley vs Lacey Evans (SmackDown Women's Title Match)
WWE has invested a lot of time and effort in Lacey Evans' babyface turn on SmackDown and it's been worthwhile. The fans have really gotten behind her as a character and she certainly has been getting the desired reactions.
Unfortunately, things just never really clicked with this title match and the audience never seemed to get fully invested into what was happening. This was mainly due to the tough position on the card, having to follow the women's Royal Rumble match, but also because the match just never got to that next gear.

The pair had a far better match on SmackDown recently, and therefore they're certainly capable of better. By no means was it a bad match, it was just a little slow and predictable for the most part.
5 Roman Reigns vs King Corbin (Falls Count Anywhere Match)
This one was the official opening match of the night and they certainly gave it the full effort. Sometimes Falls Count Anywhere matches can be very lackluster in the falls counting anywhere department, but this certainly wasn't.
The two men brawled all over Minute Maid Park and really made the most of that stipulation, fighting amongst the fans, near the toilets, and at the dugouts. It helped the audience really get invested in the match and certainly helped start the show in a hot way.
The only real issue with this one was the length of the match. Things just went on a little too long here to get to the big finish and the interferences. Had they shaved off 10 minutes this would have been far better.
4 The Fiend vs Daniel Bryan (Universal Championship Strap Match)
This was by far The Fiend's greatest match in WWE so far, which is no surprise considering how talented Daniel Bryan is. However, strap matches aren't always the easiest of stipulations, yet the duo really made it work in their favor.

For starters, the terrible red light was removed for this match, which had plagued previous Fiend matches. It instantly made the match easier to connect with and Bryan's babyface performance really was outstanding.
Bryan took an absolute beating from the strap, creating huge welts all over his body which rose the emotional value of the match. However, the main reason it was so good is that it made The Fiend seem beatable for the first time, which is crucial for the longevity of his character.
3 Women's Royal Rumble Match
The third annual women's Royal Rumble match was a big step up from last year with a far better run through that featured fewer errors. The match had really good pacing and some solid entrants to keep fans hooked.
The match made the likes of Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, and Charlotte Flair all look great, and the finish really was tremendously well down and tough to predict, helping to make the match entertaining.

The only issue with this match was that there were many repeat 'surprise' entrants. While the fans accepted it this time, seeing the likes of Kelly Kelly and Molly Holly yet again next year might not be.
2 Becky Lynch vs Asuka (Raw Women's Championship Match)
Throughout Becky Lynch's reign as Raw Women's Champion she has really been lacking in title matches that have a big fight feel. Well, that is exactly what this bout with Asuka had in spades, playing into their history as Asuka is her Achilles heel.
Asuka is an incredible wrestler and really brings out the best in anybody, while Becky Lynch is solid and still unbelievably popular. The two have awesome chemistry together and seeing that play out in a match of this magnitude was great.
Neither held anything back with some brutal bumps, especially on the outside. However, that only helped raise the stakes of the entire match even further, making the match more entertaining.
1 Men's Royal Rumble Match
This is arguably one of the greatest Royal Rumble matches of all time, that's how good the main event was this year. It's a match that had absolutely everything you could ask for. Brock Lesnar dominated the first half and put in an amazing performance, proving how great he is.
There were comedy moments, there were callbacks to some of his previous feuds, to his friendship with Shelton Benjamin and a major moment for Keith Lee. Then there was the huge moment for Drew McIntyre by eliminating the Beast.
But things didn't stop there. We had a great mix of old names, young talent, and current roster stars and, of course, the huge return of Edge! Things were capped off excellently with Drew McIntyre winning the match as well, with WWE starting to create a brand new star.
