Chris Jericho is afraid of AEW adding too many titles, questioning the introduction of Taz's FTW Title and its meaning.

Every wrestler's aim, no matter what company they compete in, should be to win titles. Whether it be a women's, world, tag title, or otherwise, that should be the goal. However, the constant addition of new titles, particularly in WWE, has watered down how much championships actually mean. Between the main roster and its NXT brands, there are currently 18 active titles in WWE.

Multiple brands or not, that is too many titles. Chris Jericho discussed this exact topic on his most recent Saturday Night Special. The Demo God blamed the trend on the first time Vince McMahon split the roster in two almost 20 years ago. The Undisputed Champion competed on both Raw and SmackDown, to begin with. However, it didn't take long until WWE had two World Champions.

"There’s a Raw champion, there’s a SmackDown champion, there’s a Raw Intercontinental Champion, a SmackDown US Champion. There’s too f**king many titles," Jericho ranted on his YouTube show. What Le Champion fears is AEW falling into the same trap. He believes that the company is already headed down a dangerous road when it comes to adding too much gold to its shows.

Jericho has no problem with the four main titles in AEW right now (World, TNT, Women's, and Tag) but takes issue with the one Brian Cage is wearing around his waist. "The FTW Title even is too much. It doesn’t mean anything. Who cares?" Jericho went on to say. For those who don't know, the FTW Title is a championship Taz carried in ECW. Since he is now managing Cage, Taz has bestowed his precious belt unto The Machine.

Jericho's belief that a company can have too many titles is a relevant one. However, his dislike of the FTW Title might be something he can let go of. Aside from one match on Dark, Cage isn't defending the FTW Championship. It doesn't appear to be an active championship, nor will it become one. As for other titles that might be added to AEW down the road, that could happen, but hopefully it won't go overboard.
