The Washington Capitals picked up a crucial 3-2 road win over the Vegas Golden Knights to even the Stanley Cup Final at one game apiece, and it's all thanks to the heroism of goalie, Braden Holtby.

With just two minutes to go in regulation, Vegas forward Alex Tuch received a generous bounce and was left wide open in front of the net. Holtby pulled off a Dominik Hasek-like save, throwing out his stick to rob Tuch of a game-tying goal.

Caps forward Alexander Ovechkin was nervously watching from the bench, and couldn't believe the save that his world class goalie teammate made.

The Capitals barely held on 3-2, evening the series as they go back to Washington for Games 3 and 4. This is also the first time in history where the Capitals won a Stanley Cup Final game - as they were swept by the Detroit Red Wings 20 years ago.

Vegas took game one 6-4, but this contest featured better defensive play and strong goaltending on both sides. The difference in this one, however, was Holtby's ability to prevent Tuch of a goal that would have almost certainly sent the game into overtime.

It's been an excellent postseason for Holtby, who watched Philipp Grubauer start the first two games against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the opening round of the playoffs. After Washington fell behind 2-0, head coach Barry Trotz turned to Holtby - who has been red hot ever since.

After leading the Capitals to four consecutive victories to close out Columbus, Holtby backstopped the team to a 4-2 series win over the Pittsburgh Penguins - finally getting through their Kryptonite and preventing a Steel City three-peat. Washington then beat the heavily-favored Tampa Bay Lighting in the Eastern Conference Final to punch a ticket to the Stanley Cup.

Holtby was off in Game 1, but he returned to form in Game 2 and made one of the greatest playoff saves in recent memory. A few more performances like this, and the Capitals will be holding their first ever Stanley Cup.
