The WWE Royal Rumble 2022 pay-per-view is just over two months away now.

The event will be held inside The Dome at Ameirca's Center in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, Jan. 29. As per tradition, the winners of the men's and women's Royal Rumble matches will guarantee themselves championship opportunites at WrestleMania weekend. WrestleMania 38 will run at the AT&T Center in Arlington, Texas on the Apr. 2-3 weekend.

If current WWE Champion Big E manages to hold on to his title for the next four months, perhaps the men's Royal Rumble winner will decide to face him. And if the Power of Positivity gets his wish, the Royal Rumble winner will be one of his longtime New Day allies or another perennial fan favorite.

In an interview on Barstool's Rasslin' Podcast (h/t Fightful.com), Big E explained that he would like to see Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods or Cesaro win the Royal Rumble. For the latter, Big E cited his strong in-ring work and the belief that Cesaro deserves the opportunity.

"I feel like the lazy answers would be, ‘It'd be a New Day member, I'd say either Kofi or Woods.’ So I'll go with someone who's not that," Big E said. "You know what, let's give — Cesaro should win the Royal Rumble...I'd love to see Cesaro get hot again. When he was with Paul Heyman, like that era, the swing era, and he's still so damn good, but we're so behind him. He's a guy who's deserving of that so I'd love to see him get some great much deserved momentum."

Cesaro Wins

Neither Cesaro, Kingston or Woods have won the Royal Rumble. Edge was the winner of last year's event, but he and Daniel Bryan fell short in dethroning Roman Reigns as the Universal Champion at WrestleMania 38.

Cesaro Deserves It, But Don't Get Your Hopes Up

Many fans were thrilled to see Cesaro receive a brief and long overdue main event push earlier this year. With help from Daniel Bryan, Cesaro's momentum grew and he went on to challenge The Tribal Chief for the Universal title at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view in a losing effort.

Cesaro has all the tools to be a main event star, and it starts with his superb in-ring skill set. Unfortunately, Vince McMahon and WWE creative clearly aren't high on making him a main event star. As such, it's very difficult to envision him winning the Royal Rumble, even though much of the WWE Universe would happily welcome it.
