With Triple H out of action, or, at the very least, taking on a more limited role behind the scenes in WWE, Shawn Michaels has stepped in. He's assumed the role of captain of the NXT 2.0 ship, and he is essentially leading the brand through their changeover from NXT black and gold to NXT 2.0. With reports that Vince McMahon hasn't been incredibly pleased with the way things have gone since the re-brand, how do Vince and other decision-makers feel about the work Michaels is doing?
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that WWE has been pleased with Michaels since he stepped in. At the moment, they see no need to make a change, even though he was technically only brought in to be a coach while Triple H was running things. The circumstances being what they are with Triple H, WWE is very high on the job Michaels has done since he stepped in.
So too, with the recent releases of backstage coaches, producers, and others like William Regal, Gabe Sapolsky, and Road Dogg, Michael's position in NXT is more secure than it's ever been. The same mentality or unwritten rule that those who were closely connected to Triple H might have to be removed doesn't seem to apply to Michaels.

Michaels Seems To Like His Role
Michaels is clearly enjoying his time in NXT. He's gone from only wanting to be mildly involved in the product to heavily involved and now running things behind the scenes. He made a recent appearance on Raw Talk and said he was looking forward to the Royal Rumble and was cheering for former NXT stars to win it. He noted he was a bit biased and said, “The likes of Damian Priest and Riddle, I’m definitely pulling for some of those guys!"
