The likes of WrestleMania X-Seven and SummerSlam 2002 are fondly remembered by fans for being amongst the greatest pay-per-views in WWE history. The match card on both of those shows showed the depth that WWE had at their disposal. Moreover, in the modern era, there are some occasions where WWE had two pay-per-views in a single month.

It's incredibly different for some fans to have an encyclopedia built into their brains by remembering every single detail of what's occurred on a pay-per-view. Nonetheless, WWE has flexed their muscles time and time again, and they have incredible ability to bounce back on pay-per-views which may have not gone according to plan.
10 Vengeance 2003
Vengeance 2003 was the second WWE PPV exclusive to the SmackDown brand. Headlined by Kurt Angle defeating Brock Lesnar and Big Show in a triple threat match to become a four-time WWE Champion. That was one of the best triple threat matches that WWE had ever produced.
Eddie Guerrero prevailed over his good friend Chris Benoit for the reinstated United States Championship in an excellent opener. The action was captivating with The World's Greatest Tag Team retaining the WWE Tag Team Titles against Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio. Other key results included Sable defeating Stephanie McMahon, and John Cena failed to defeat Undertaker in a remarkable match.
9 No Mercy 2001
The Invasion angle often gets mixed reviews with some fans and critics thinking it was great and others thinking it was a failure. However, No Mercy 2001 signaled a slight changing of the guard with new stars emerging. Test earned a huge victory over Kane but his tag team partner Booker T couldn't say the same as he lost in the battle of Houstonians against The Undertaker.
Edge reclaiming the Intercontinental Championship against Christian in a ladder match was another highlight on the card. However, the two world title matches were simply sensational. Chris Jericho finally became a world champion after he dethroned The Rock for the WCW Championship in a war of attrition. Steve Austin outlasted his fellow Alliance stablemate Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle in an excellent triple threat encounter to retain the WWE Title.
8 Night Of Champions 2009
2009 was another great year for WWE and they were at the peak of their powers. However, Night of Champions 2009 often gets overlooked but the card was stacked from top to bottom.
Michelle McCool retained the Women's Title against Melina and McCool recalls that she and Melina got in trouble for a good match which is laughable. Randy Orton retained the WWE Championship in a triple threat match against John Cena and Triple H just like he did at WrestleMania XXIV. Christian regained the ECW Title and Jeff Hardy won the World Heavyweight Championship back from CM Punk in the main event.
7 Fully Loaded 2000
WWE continued to produce the goods in 2000 and Fully Loaded was right up there as one of the best pay-per-views that year. There were some entertaining bouts with Perry Saturn beating Eddie Guerrero for the European Title, and Val Venis retained the Intercontinental Championship against Rikishi in a steel cage match.

This was also the first PPV meeting between Trish Stratus and Lita. Lita and The Hardys got the better of T&A and Trish in a mixed six-person tag team match. However, the event was dubbed as a triple main event and those three matches certainly delivered. Undertaker recovered to defeat Kurt Angle and Triple H bested Chris Jericho in a brutal Last Man Standing match. Ultimately, The Rock and Chris Benoit hit a home run in a competitive WWE Championship with The People's Champion retaining.
6 One Night Stand 2008
One Night Stand 2008 is best remembered for Edge banishing Undertaker from WWE in a TLC match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. That was by far the best match on the card but there were some other great matches on the card that enticed the fans.
Batista and Shawn Michaels continued their fine rivalry with The Animal prevailing in a hard-hitting Stretcher match. Beth Phoenix overpowered Melina in the first-ever women's "I Quit" match which was a remarkable contest. Unfortunately, Randy Orton legitimately broke his collarbone in his WWE Championship Last Man Standing loss to Triple H. Overall, it was a good show which doesn't get spoken about.
5 Backlash 2007
The fallout of WrestleMania 23 at Backlash 2007 was exceptional. There were only six matches on the card but all had major implications with titles on the line. The Hardys successfully defended the World Tag Team Championship against Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch in the opening match.
Melina and Mickie James put on an excellent Women's Championship match. Chris Benoit retained the United States Title against MVP in a rematch from WrestleMania 23. Mr. McMahon captured the ECW Championship in a three-on-one handicap match at Bobby Lashley's expense. Ultimately, Batista and Undertaker ensured that their feud continued as it was a draw in their Last Standing match for Undertaker's World Title. The main event featuring John Cena defeating Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, and Edge in an epic fatal-4-way match to retain the WWE Title was the standout match of the night.
4 No Mercy 2002
Raw and SmackDown combined to make No Mercy 2002 a successful extravaganza. Chris Jericho and Christian bested Booker T and Goldust in a fun Tag Team Championship match. Rob Van Dam defeated Ric Flair in another enticing encounter on the show.

Jamie Noble and Tajiri produced an underrated Cruiserweight Championship match. Triple H unified the Intercontinental Title into his World Heavyweight Championship on the card. However, the two best matches of the night belonged to Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit becoming the inaugural WWE Tag Team Champions against Edge and Rey Mysterio in a five-star epic. Brock Lesnar's victory over Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell was the most eye-catching result of the night.
3 King Of The Ring 1993
The first iteration of the King of the Ring as a pay-per-view in 1993 was arguably the best King of the Ring event that WWE has staged. However, the night belonged to Bret Hart. The Excellence of Execution's road to becoming King of the Ring was long and arduous.
Bret overcame three tough opponents in Razor Ramon, Mr. Perfect, and Bam Bam Bigelow to prevail. The quality of the matches was insanely good. Another footnote on the show was Yokozuna recapturing the WWE Title from Hulk Hogan after the WrestleMania IX debacle. Shawn Michaels was another victor on the show by retaining the Intercontinental Championship against Crush.
2 SummerSlam 2011
Coming off the heels of a hot Money in the Bank 2011 showing, WWE managed to host another successful show at SummerSlam 2011. Spearheaded by CM Punk and John Cena's rematch for the Undisputed WWE Championship fans were intrigued to witness the bout. They didn't outdo their MITB match but it was another strong match with Punk prevailing.
Randy Orton recaptured the World Heavyweight Title from Christian in another No Holds Barred match. Wade Barrett ousted Daniel Bryan, Kelly Kelly upset Beth Phoenix to retain the Divas Championship, and Mark Henry beat Sheamus in a hard-hitting match.
1 Backlash 1999
WrestleMania XV was massively disappointing but WWE managed to put that show behind them with a magnificent Backlash 1999 card. The New Age Outlaws defeated Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart in a competitive tag team match to become the number one contender for the tag team titles.
Triple H bested X-Pac in a match close to 20 minutes. The Undertaker overcame Ken Shamrock in another war of attrition that was boring for some parts. However, Steve Austin and The Rock delivered a classic of a WWE Championship match with The Texas Rattlesnake retaining the WWE Title.
