What does Dungeons & Dragons have in common with WWE? Out of this world characters! It should come as no surprise that there is plenty of crossover between the WWE Universe and fans of the legendary tabletop game. And why shouldn’t there be? Both are filled with fantastic and fun characters, some good, some bad, but all captivating in their own way. Fans can even catch some WWE Superstars playing D&D campaigns with Xavier Woods on his successful YouTube channel, UpUpDownDown.

That being said, not every D&D player is the same, just as no two WWE Superstars are alike. They all have their own defining qualities to separate them from the pack. Let’s take a look at the D&D roles for 10 of the best ladies in WWE today.

10 Ember Moon - Monk

Ember Moon Royal Rumble entrance

Ember Moon is a self-confessed D&D nerd, so much so that she’s the host of Rollout, Xavier Woods’ D&D-themed YouTube show. While she’s played a variety of roles throughout the show's 3 seasons, it seems the Monk character fits Ember best.

Monks are generally for players who love to combine magical and physical strengths, like the almost-magical elements to Ember Moon’s on-screen character. Both are calm, cool, and collected, but strike when necessary, and Ember’s Mortal Kombat-like appearance is certainly reminiscent of some sort of magical strength.

9 Alexa Bliss - Fighter

Players can usually find Alexa Bliss on the other side of the table from Ember Moon, and she plays a great fighter class. It makes sense, as fighters specialty is dealing damage by any means necessary, something the multi-time champion excels at. Having dominated both RAW and SmackDown throughout her career, Bliss is certainly well-practiced in adapting to her situation, something that is key for the fighter role.

Fighters also have a diverse skill set - something that The Goddess of WWE certainly has for herself. Bliss can hang with the best in the business on the mic while putting on a thrilling show in the ring. Many wrestlers struggle to be half as good as her in either area - something that makes the well-rounded fighter class an excellent fit for The Goddess.

8 Shayna Bayszler - Barbarian

Sometimes it’s best not to overthink things when it comes to tabletop games. When it comes to combat, Shayna Bayzler definitely doesn’t overthink things, and neither does the Barbarian role in D&D.

Barbarians are known for their love of combat, relying on their instincts and adrenaline to get them out of tough situations. Barbarians are known for their “battle rage” ability, where they can take out many enemies at once. This is exactly how the Cage Fighter plays the game of WWE.

7 Io Shirai - Rogue

In Dungeons & Dragons, rouges love the thrill of danger and use precision to reach their goals, just like when Io Shirai used assassin-like precision to capture the NXT Women’s title.

Dominating the NXT brand since her split with Kairi Sane, Candice Lerae, and other NXT allies, Shirai has enjoyed tons of success all on her own. This matches up with the rogue's playstyle perfectly. They are generally the ones blurring moral lines when it comes to the intense choices that are necessary for some D&D campaigns.

6 The IIConics - Bard

Bards usually rely on their words and wit rather than brute strength to overcome their foes. While they are no slouches in the ring, the IIConics can certainly get down with the bard's love for talking. The IIConics are like bards in that they are fantastic at using their charisma to talk themselves out of tough situations.

Few women are better on the mic than either Billie Kay or Peyton Royce in WWE today. When the two have the ability to play off each other, it’s almost unfair to compare their promos to other superstars on the roster. While there are plenty of great talkers in WWE, the IIConics are two of the best there is.

5 Asuka - Warlock

D&D is a fantastical game, filled with glory-seeking champions and adventure-loving companions. There’s a much darker side to this tabletop titan though. Demons are some of the most dangerous enemies in D&D. They are chaotic and evil beings, with few having the power to stop them. One such role that can stand up to these demons is the Warlock. Warlocks have extensive knowledge of demons and other inter-dimensional beings in the D&D world.

They use this knowledge to wield great power against their foes. One can be forgiven for confusing Asuka for a magical warrior - her captivating entrances certainly makes it seem like she has a demonic power. When she dawns her mask and war paint, there are few as fearsome and powerful as Asuka, making her perfect for the Warlock role.

4 Bayley - Ranger

Rangers typically use the landscape of the world to their advantage, positioning themself in more and more advantageous situations until victory is theirs. Ever since arriving at SmackDown last April, this is exactly what Bayley has done. By playing the game like a Ranger would, she has positioned herself for success time and time again. Rangers are all about strategy and tactics rather than brute force.

This is a playstyle the SmackDown Women’s champ has adopted time and time again to avoid losing her title. Rather than fight her own battles and risk defeat, Bayley manipulates allies like Sasha Banks to do her fighting for her. The constant tactics and desire to fight from a distance are all traits any good D&D Ranger shares with Bayley.

3 Becky Lynch - Paladin

When it comes to heroes in Dungeons & Dragons, few are as noble and powerful as Paladins. Paladins are generally meant for players looking to forge a great crusade and vanquish the forces of evil. Becky Lynch certainly went on a similar crusade last year, when she took on Ronda Rousey, Charlotte, and the McMahons all at once.

There aren't many greater crusades than main eventing WrestleMania, and Lynch's affinity for championships and main-event battles makes her perfect for this D&D role.

2 Charlotte Flair - Sorcerer

Sorcerers rely on their magical bloodlines to draw from incredible powers to defeat their enemies. If there is any woman in WWE today who has the bloodline for success, it’s Charlotte Flair, daughter of 16-time World Champion Ric Flair. Charlotte loves to boast about her heritage, drawing from her father's legacy in the same way sorcerer's draw magical powers from their bloodlines in D&D.

Charlotte has achieved absolute greatness in WWE using devastating moves like the Figure 8 and her natural abilities inherited from her Hall-of-Fame father. In the same sense, sorcerers have powerful abilities related to their origin and are generally naturally gifted in certain skills. Hopefully, Charlotte can return to making magic in the ring once she recovers from her latest injury.

1 Stephanie McMahon - Dungeon Master

While it’s not exactly a ‘role,’ Dungeons & Dragons would be nothing without Dungeon Masters. And while Stephanie McMahon isn't exactly a WWE Superstar, she does play a vital role in front of the camera as well as behind the scenes. Dungeon Masters are responsible for almost every aspect of the game. They lay out the story for players, present them with challenges and tough decisions, and make rulings of their own to force certain outcomes in the game.

Stephanie McMahon is very much a Dungeon Master in WWE. She is regularly the catalyst for new storylines and matches, acts as an authority figure when necessary, and even plays the puppet-master role with her superstars from time to time. There is no game without the Dungeon Master, and Stephanie McMahon would tell you there is no Women's Revolution without Stephanie McMahon.
