Name changes are common in WWE, although there was likely a hope among fans that they would become less common with Vince McMahon gone. Yes, we know he's back, but for now at least, he doesn't appear to have insisted he regain control of creative. Whatever's going on backstage, someone who makes the final call on these things needs to make a definitive decision about Mia Yim.
Mia Yim Or Michin?
Two months ago, Yim joined up with The OC and WWE briefly changed her name to Michin. We say briefly because shortly after, Yim's ring name was changed back and Michin was kept as a nickname. Everyone seemed settled on that until this week when Yim was once again referred to as Michin. Not as a moniker, but as her actual WWE name.

That seemed to be the message being sent as Michin was used on the graphic for Yim's entrance, she was introduced by the announcer as such, and commentators referred to her as Michin throughout the match. A match Yim won, by the way. A significant win since it was over one-half of the Women's Tag Team Champions, Iyo Sky.

Just to muddy the waters even further, the first port of call when it comes to this sort of confusion is the Superstars page over at WWE.com. There, the Raw wrestler is still listed as Mia Yim, suggesting her name hasn't been changed to Michin again. We may well need to wait until Raw's 30th-anniversary show, or whenever Yim wrestles next, to further confirm what she will actually be called moving forward.
Yim has explained what Michin means and it sounds as if the nickname might have been her idea. Using it as a ring name doesn't really sit right though, a realization it seemed WWE had after it gave it a trial run a couple of months ago. Right now, it feels like replacing Mia Yim with Michin a second time was a one-off, but you never can know for sure in WWE.
