The Miz's most recent WWE Championship reign went down as one of the shortest in the title belt's history.
He held the WWE Championship for just eight days before losing it to Bobby Lashley on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. With the defeat, The Miz set an unwanted WWE record.
According to WWE Stats & Info, The Miz's eight-day WWE Championship run is the shortest ever for a reign that started with a Money in the Bank cash-in. On top of that, it's the shortest WWE Championship reign "since 2011 that did NOT end via forfeiture or MITB Cash-In."
The Miz's reign began at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view on Feb. 21. Immediately after Drew McIntyre successfully defended the title against five other superstars, he was attacked by Lashley.
The Miz took advantage of the opportunity and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, and he easily defeated McIntyre to claim the WWE Championship for the first time in a decade. His first WWE Championship reign lasted 159 days, from Nov. 22, 2010 to May, 1, 2011.

The Miz attempted to cash in his Money in the Bank contract in the McIntyre-AJ Styles WWE Championship match at TLC. McIntyre managed to retain, but The Miz got the briefcase back once it was determined that John Morrison actually cashed it in. The rules state that only the contract holder himself can do so.

It Was Fun While It Lasted
The Miz's second title reign was very short, but it was nice to see the future Hall of Famer finally get his hands back on the title after a long 10-year wait. He was the right opponent to take the title off of McIntyre, and the short-term feud with Lashley was simply brilliant. Here's hoping he won't have to wait another 10 years for his third WWE Championship reign.
