Trish Stratus is one of the most instantly recognizable names not only in WWE, but in professional wrestling as a whole. She is a true trailblazer for women in professional wrestling and has made history on numerous occasions. A former multi-time champion who has competed in classic matches, she retired for the first time in 2006 after winning the WWE Women’s Championship. In the years following, Stratus had made some sporadic appearances in WWE. However, it was never anything long-term, but that all changed in 2022 when Stratus returned to WWE on a full-time basis. The WWE Hall of Famer has been battling against some of WWE’s very best and has been doing some fantastic work.

Trish Stratus Wants To Give WWE Fans Interesting Stories
On an episode of the Out Of Character podcast (h/t TJR Wrestling), Stratus spoke with Ryan Satin regarding her choice to return to WWE full-time again. She had discussed WWE traveling back to Canada following the COVID-19 pandemic and thinking of the different possibilities that she could have in the ring that fans wanted to see. She said, “I felt like — I don’t know. It’s funny, that was like so long ago. There’s like a whole pandemic that went through. You know, honestly, when I went back they were having the live events, and they were coming they were through Toronto. And twice I had dabbled with the girls in the ring. But you know what it was, was like the fans being so interested in this ‘fantasy booking,’ and seeing this kind of happen.”
In that same interview, Stratus also mentioned that there were certain specific competitors that she wanted to interact with when she returned. She stated, “I keep saying there’s boxes that I want to check, if I’m going to come back there’s like these certain boxes I want to check. I want the fans to be interested. I want them to care, like I don’t just come back for my own, for all my kicks. I want like something that’s interesting.” For Stratus, it is all about fan interest and making sure that they are interested in what is going on.
Trish Stratus And Becky Lynch Deliver An Incredible Feud
When Stratus made her initial return to WWE, she teamed with Becky Lynch and Lita, her longtime rival and friend, to take on Damage CTRL. This resulted in a match at WrestleMania 39 Night One between these two trios. It was also a night of success for Lita, Lynch, and Stratus. For Stratus, it was her first WrestleMania since 2011 at WrestleMania 27. However, Stratus’ main feud since returning has been with Lynch. It has seen them battle on a couple of different occasions.
Stratus has spoken highly of Lynch in the past. In an interview on the After The Bell With Corey Graves (h/t Yahoo! Life), Stratus said that when she entered the program with Lita and Lynch, “Lita and Becky march to their own beat, but to me, I saw a lot of me in Becky. I see the drive and the passion and the unequivocally will not accept anything less than excellence. That is what I did. And I see that in her. And so I was like, I see in her too. Which I admired, and I love that.”

However, Stratus’ turn on Lynch was based off the lack of respect that she felt she was getting. She demanded to be shown the appreciation that she deserved for what she had done in the professional wrestling business. This also led to an alliance with up-and-coming star Zoey Stark, who has shown support for Stratus throughout her rivalry with Lynch. Stratus further added of Lynch, “They say don’t meet your heroes, not that she was my hero. I should be her hero. But I was just like, oh, okay, cool. That’s fine. And then it just was too much.”
Trish Stratus Helps To Elevate Other WWE Talent Like Zoey Stark
The Stratus-Lynch storyline has truly been one of the best going on in WWE at the moment. Stratus helping to further elevate Lynch, a modern legend in her own right, as one of the top stars of the current era. In addition, Zoey Stark is also benefiting from having more exposure and gaining name recognition via her association with Stratus. Despite WWE pulling a planned match between Lynch and Stratus at SummerSlam to the disappointment of many, there is no doubt that the two will continue to deliver a strong program. Stratus is doing some of the best work of her career with Lynch, which is a testament to just how great and legendary she truly is.
