This week's NXT 2.0 was a little more than a regular edition of the show. Another big show between bigger shows, if you will, as the Heatwave PPV name was dusted off for the first time in more than two decades. The show name hasn't been used since its last outing for ECW in 2000, and while the NXT version likely looked about as different as a wrestling show can from the original, there was still some great action and a lot of newsworthy moments.

Tyler Bate Turned Up

Heatwave was main evented by Bron Breakker's latest defense of the NXT Title. Breakker was tasked with beating JC McDonagh, something he achieved, but it wasn't easy. It took three spears and a military press powerslam to keep The Irish Ace down, and Breakker didn't have much time to celebrate.

Right after the match, NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate entered the fray, seemingly declaring himself Breakker's next challenger. An interesting decision to start this feud here by WWE, as Bate's title win hasn't actually been shown on TV yet. Breakker's title wasn't the only one on the line at Heatwave. Mandy Rose's reign was also under threat.

Are Rose And Jade On A Collision Course?

Much like Breakker, Rose's time with her title continues. The champ, who will soon surpass 300 days with the title, focused on Zoey Stark's knee to seal the win. Her next challenger will likely be Cora Jade. Although that's yet to be confirmed, Jade beat Roxanne Perez on Tuesday night by bending the rules when her opponent couldn't bring herself to do the same.

It was a good night all round for NXT's champions. Carmelo Hayes also retained, beating Giovanni Vinci to ensure he remains North American Champion. Last, but certainly not least, Tony D'Angelo saw off Santos Escobar in what was a pretty terrific Street Fight. That means Escobar must now leave NXT, so expect to see him show up on a different WWE show at some point in the near future.
