MVP was a surprise entrant in the 2020 Royal Rumble and returned Monday on Raw. Apparently, he's back with WWE but for how long and how often?
On Sunday, MVP fell victim to Brock Lensar, as did many others. On Monday, he lost to Rey Mysterio. Needless to say, he's not off to the greatest start. That may indicate what WWE has planned for him.
He hadn't been in WWE for years and there wasn't much in the way of buzz WWE had any interest in bringing MVP back, yet there he was. Speculation is he's working on and off for the company and probably not for too long. At most, he might make a few more appearances.
According to Wrestling Observer Live, MVP has been asked and is willing to stick around only for a short period of time. Kind of like what Goldberg did, MVP wanted one more small run to show his six-year-old son where he used to work and among those listed as a bucket-list item for his WWE career, he wanted a Mysterio match as his son loves Rey.
MVP took to Instagram and said, "If you will indulge me in a moment of pure, unapologetic selfishness, tonight wasn't for me, or for any of YOU. Tonight was for this. For my Lil Dude. Thank you Rey. I love you bro!"
MVP looked pretty good in his match with Rey on Monday, other than forgetting to stay down when taking the 6-1-9. Instead, Mysterio caught him in the back, did a top-rope splash and won with MVP left baffled as he walked from the ring.
What's Next for MVP?
Perhaps WWE allows him to make a minor run on the way to WrestleMania but it's not expected he'll be around much longer. Either way, returns are always cool in WWE and seeing MVP was a fun moment for fans and probably his son.
