MJF Claims New AEW Deal Is Worth A Lot More Money But Still Ends In 2024

This past summer will go down as one of the most memorable in wrestling history. Starting with Vince McMahon's retirement and ending with the chaos that was AEW's All Out press conference, a lot of what has happened over the past few months will continue to affect the industry for years to come. So much happened, in fact, that the situation surrounding MJF almost fell under the radar.

MJF's Lucrative New Deal

That was until he returned to confront CM Punk at All Out. MJF stormed out of AEW after suffering defeat to Wardlow at Double or Nothing, cutting an aggressive and very real-feeling promo about the company and his employer on the way out. So real, in fact, that fans were unclear whether he would ever be back.

MJF has returned, and he continues to play up the idea that he and Tony Khan were not seeing eye-to-eye on his worth. In a new interview with Ariel Helwani, MJF revealed the new deal he signed means he is now earning a lot more money. However, he also claims that the new deal and that extra money hasn't come in exchange for committing himself to AEW for any more time than before.

More Money, Same Amount Of Time

“I'm making a stupid, absurd amount of money now and I didn't have to sign a contract extension,” MJF claimed. That means he will likely continue to tease that when his current contract is nearing its end in 2024, he will jump ship to WWE if Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are willing to stump up more money than AEW. He even admitted a new company willing to pay him more and make him the figurehead would also be a viable option.

There's a belief among some that the press conference, brawl, and various reports since have massively overshadowed MJF's return. The man himself doesn't believe that to be the case, pointing to the reaction he got on Dynamite three days later as evidence of that. As for his immediate future, with the casino chip still in his possession, MJF has a shot at the AEW Title whenever he chooses to cash that chip in.
