Phillip A. Thomas II, a social media stalker was arrested for kidnapping on Sunday 16th August carrying a knife, duct tape, mace and zip ties in the home of WWE Superstar Sonya Deville, as reported by Tampa Bay Times.

While Sonya Deville, real name Daria Berenato, has not been identified publicly by police in relation to this case, arrest records show that the home in question belonged to her and there's social media evidence that the suspect has been obsessed with her for a long time.

Thomas II had started planning the abduction eight months ago, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said. He allegedly underwent a seven hour journey by car from South Carolina to Lutz, Florida, where he parked his car at a church nearby to the home.

He then walked to Deville's house, cut a hole in her patio screen and waited inside the property for four hours watching and listening through a window until his target had gone to bed.

It was only because Thomas II tripped a burger alarm when officially entering the property at 02:43 am  that the target was alerted to his presence, spotted the intruder and was able to escape the house with a guest. When the police arrived Thomas II was still in the house and he told them he planned to take the homeowner hostage.

This is obviously a very scary situation for Deville, especially as Thomas II's social media presence shows he's been obsessed with her for some time. His twitter account is just retweets of Sonya Deville's posts and WWE's posts about her, as well as a chilling ultimatum for her to 'reject him'.

Thankfully Deville is safe and the man has been apprehended, but this is truly an extraordinary story, although not an isolated incident. The WWE Performance Centre has been the site of many incidents from one stalker named Armando Alejandro Montalvo, hopefully now WWE will take a stronger approach with him.
