The WCW run of Randy Savage doesn’t get enough love due to other big names signing around the same time as him. Hulk Hogan got all the attention since he was the bigger name, but Savage was right behind him among important WCW signings. The tenure saw Savage in the promotion for about five years with many interesting moments.

WCW placed Savage in various storylines and feuds with opponents of different styles. Savage tried to make it work with everyone he interacted with, but some clearly worked better than others. WCW was known for being unpredictable with hit or miss results for dream rivalries.
10 Roddy Piper
WCW was actually the place where fans were given a real rivalry between Randy Savage and Roddy Piper despite their WWE runs being more memorable. The feud was a bit too sloppy for fans to invest into the story.

Savage was technically now a face like Piper since he turned on Hulk Hogan and helped form the Wolfpac with Kevin Nash. The older ages didn’t help as Savage and Piper had terrible tag and singles matches to make the rivalry a disappointment.
9 Dennis Rodman
The strangest rivalry of Randy Savage’s WCW career came against Dennis Rodman in the summer of 1999. Savage was having his revamped character leading Team Madness, and WCW tried to use his veteran presence to lead Rodman in a program.
The feud turned into a train wreck with Rodman trying to make a move on Savage’s girlfriend Gorgeous George and taunting. Rodman was protected in previous matches or feuds teaming with Hulk Hogan, but he clearly wasn’t ready for a singles feud.
8 The Giant
One of the overlooked feuds of Randy Savage saw him working with Big Show at an extremely young age in his career. The Giant was the moniker used by WCW and started feuding with Savage when he joined the New World Order as the fourth member.
Savage put over The Giant at Fall Brawl 1996 to help sell his impact helping the new dominant faction. The rivalry returned the following year at Road Wild 1997 when the roles were reversed. Savage was now in the nWo but once again put over The Giant now representing WCW in lackluster matches.
7 Bret Hart
One interesting thing about WCW signing a lot of former WWE legends of different eras was that they created some first-time dream feuds. Bret Hart always wanted to work a program with Randy Savage, and it finally happened a little too late in WCW.
The storyline saw Hart turning heel to join nWo Hollywood to align with Hulk Hogan against Savage and the Wolfpac. WCW booking matches between Bret and Savage unfortunately disappointed due to Savage being older and Hart never clicking in the company.
6 Kevin Nash
WCW tried to help steer the sinking ship in mid-1999 when the company was trending downhill. Randy Savage returning with a new heel act saw him feuding with top face Kevin Nash. The WCW Championship reign of Nash made him a target of Savage and his enforcer Sid Vicious.
Unfortunately, things fell apart right away with horrible story advancement. Moments like Nash abducting Gorgeous George as a face move or Savage trying to put lipstick on Nash took away from the matches. Savage winning the WCW Championship from Nash helped his final main event run as a rare positive.
5 Sting
One of the biggest matches on paper for Randy Savage when joining WCW was against Sting. WCW waited a few years before pushing the trigger on that program. Sting had to first beat Hulk Hogan for the WCW Championship in his first match after the long silence as the Crow character.
Savage was one of the few rivals for Sting during that title reign. WCW pulled a shocking title change when Savage won the title from Sting in the feud. However, this turned out to be a bigger domino in the nWo civil war since it led to the group splitting them apart.
4 Lex Luger
An unexpected rivalry to deliver for WCW featured Lex Luger vs Randy Savage. The bigger WCW vs New World Order story featured Savage and Luger interacting quite often since they wrestled more than names like Hulk Hogan and Sting.

WCW placed various tag and singles matches on television and PPV between Savage and Luger as credible top names. Souled Out 1998 was even main evented by Luger vs Sting as a placeholder between the two Hogan vs Sting PPV matches.
3 Hulk Hogan
The WWE scenario of Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage going back and forth between tag partners and rivals continued in WCW. Savage was first an ally of Hogan when both wrestlers were beloved faces signing with a new company.
However, the feud finally started when Hogan was the heel for the first time in their dynamic after forming the New World Order. Savage was one of the first feuds for the new Hollywood character of Hogan. All their matches usually ended with Hogan looking strong and Savage putting him over.
2 Ric Flair
Randy Savage found great success reigniting another former WWE feud when facing Ric Flair again. WCW gave them more twists and turns to continue it beyond a few matches. Flair attacking Randy’s father Angelo Poffo led to a lot of personal emotion being involved.
Another wild swerve came when Miss Elizabeth returned to wrestling and turned on Savage to align with Flair. This felt like the most important time in Savage’s WCW career since it came in the main event scene against the top heel often for the WCW Championship.
1 Diamond Dallas Page
No one expected an all-time great WCW rivalry when Diamond Dallas Page entered a program with Randy Savage. Fans were getting behind Page after he conned Scott Hall and Kevin Nash when they tried to recruit him into the New World Order.
The feud with Savage was a huge step up when having to sink or swim in a PPV main event environment. All three matches between the two were outstanding, but Savage putting over DDP in the first one. The work of Savage helped WCW find a new main eventer with Page thriving after this feud.
