After leaving WWE to completely reinvent himself and returning a few years later, Drew McIntyre now feels like he's very much WWE through and through. That's why reports he may well be leaving the company relatively soon came as a surprise to most post-WrestleMania. As McIntyre's current WWE deal nears its end, he and his employers can't agree on terms for a new contract.
Drew McIntyre Removes WWE References
McIntyre is yet to be seen on WWE TV since losing to Gunther at WrestleMania and was apparently pulled from SmackDown last week amid reports he may not sign a new deal. The Scottish Superstar has fanned the flames even more by removing his profile and header images on Twitter and all references to WWE from his bio. It previously read that he was a WWE Superstar on SmackDown.

While that might well mean McIntyre and WWE really aren't anywhere near agreeing on terms of a new contract, it may also be the Superstar leaning into the reports. Kevin Owens has previously done a similar thing to try and convince fans he and WWE really weren't seeing eye-to-eye. The difference here is nothing revolving around whatever is going on with McIntyre has played out on TV.
Should McIntyre Leave?
A visit to McIntyre's blacked-out Twitter page also reveals he hasn't tweeted anything since posting three waving emojis the night after WrestleMania. More evidence that the former WWE Champion may really be on his way out the door. Even though McIntyre has been a top guy for a while now, it would be hard to blame him for leaving if he does want out.
McIntyre won the WWE Title and kept it relevant through a large chunk of the time Superstars had to perform in empty buildings. It seemed nailed on that he would be the one to dethrone Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle, getting his big moment in front of a massive UK crowd as a thank you for carrying the title through the pandemic. That didn't happen. No win at WrestleMania this year may well have been the final straw for McIntyre.
