Professional wrestling has always been renowned for the scripted drama that captivates audiences worldwide. Back in January 2016, according to information obtained from PW Insider, the backstage clash between Awesome Kong and Reby Sky at IMPACT Wrestling stemmed from an issue regarding Sky attempting to utilize the women's locker room. Reportedly, Kong expressed her displeasure by throwing Sky's bag out of the room. However, it should be noted that during the tapings in Bethlehem, PA, Sky had not dressed in the women's locker room and instead opted to dress separately. The UK tour marked the first time Sky had used the women's locker room. Following the incident, Sky left the room, presumably to address the matter with someone in TNA management. When she returned to retrieve her belongings, Kong confronted her, citing the lack of an apology. During this encounter, Sky attempted to retrieve items that had been left in the locker room for her newborn baby. However, Kong prevented her from entering the room.
Sources reveal that during the heated exchange, Sky referred to Kong as a "f**king maniac," which seemed to further incite Kong's anger. The details of what transpired next differ between the two versions of the incident. One account suggests that Kong attempted to physically confront Sky but was stopped before any physical contact was made. However, the more prevalent version, supported by numerous witnesses, states that Kong physically assaulted Sky by grabbing her around the neck. Security personnel and TNA Producer Pat Kenney intervened, restraining Kong and putting an end to the altercation. What makes the entire situation even more distressing is the fact that Reby and Matt Hardy's young son was present in proximity to the incident, adding an element of concern and potential danger to the situation.

The Real Reason Behind Reby Sky's Heat With Awesome Kong
As reported by PWInsider, the underlying cause of the backstage clash between Awesome Kong and Reby Sky can be traced back to social media interactions and shoot interviews. Surprisingly, as per PWInsider the origins of this animosity can be found in a 2013 shoot interview conducted on During the interview segment titled "The Ho Bag," Kong made derogatory comments about Sky. It seems that Kong's statements were a response to an incident earlier that year when Sky took to Twitter to express her opinion about Sid Vicious not showing up for an independent wrestling event.
In retaliation, Sky addressed Kong's comments during a public Q&A session on an online forum. When asked about Kong's remarks, Sky responded by stating that she was not aware of the incident and found it puzzling since she did not have a close personal relationship with Kong. In passing at shows, they had always been cordial and even exchanged text messages a few times. Sky expressed her surprise that if Kong had an issue with her, she would resort to talking negatively about her on camera while pretending to be friendly face-to-face. Sky also made a general comment about the wrestling business, suggesting that it is common for women in the industry to behave similarly. While these exchanges occurred years ago and may have been forgotten by most people, it appears that they served as the underlying trigger for Kong's anger and her subsequent demand for an apology from Sky.

The Consequences Of Awesome Kong And Reby Sky's Fight
During the time of the incident, Impact Wrestling promptly responded to the backstage altercation between Awesome Kong and Reby Sky, taking immediate action. TNA Wrestling informed Pro Wrestling Sheet that as a result of the incident involving Kia Stevens, known as Awesome Kong, and Rebecca Hardy, also known as Reby Sky, Kong had been sent home from their United Kingdom tour. They stated that the matter was being reviewed to determine if any further disciplinary measures were necessary.
Following the initial statement, TNA Wrestling later announced that they had made the decision to terminate Kong's contract as a consequence of the incident involving Hardy. They released an official statement expressing their findings from the investigation, stating that releasing Awesome Kong was the appropriate course of action in this case. They acknowledged Kong's significant contributions to TNA and the pivotal role she played in solidifying the Knockouts division as the premier female division in professional wrestling. TNA expressed gratitude towards Kong for her contributions and extended their good wishes for her future endeavors. Kong has not returned to the company since she had a brief run in AEW that also ended in 2021.
