A New Side of Austin Theory

This week's Monday Night Raw was all about setting up Survivor Series War Games and starting a new chapter for Austin Theory. There was a ton of great in-ring action, some additions to the War Games teams and the focus was on the United States Championship. Here are your winners and losers for Raw, November 14, 2022:

Winner: Austin Theory

After losing his Money in the Bank cash-in last week for the United States Championship, Theory explained why he was happy to get rid of the anchor holding him back and he showed a new side to his personality and took his aggression out on both Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins. His match with Ziggler was off the chain and it made sense that these two would want to settle some unfinished business. His attack on Rollins set the United States Champion up as a for-sure babyface and set Theory on his new path toward the title.

This was a big night for Theory, especially after last week when a number of people were wondering if WWE was giving up on him and his push was over now that Triple H was in charge. Clearly that is not the case and Theory proved it's wise to get behind him. He's got the goods to be a major star.

Loser: Mustafa Ali

Ali was thrown into Raw for the past two weeks as someone Bobby Lashley could discard. Some may argue that it's better than not being used at all, but it doesn't help much that Ali feels he's better than he actually is (at least according to his win/loss record on television). He's awfully confident for someone who gets his butt handed to him week after week. That's going to get old, even if it's logical he get destroyed by someone like Lashley.

He put up a bit of a fight against The All Mighty, but the result of this match was never in question. Ali was fodder for the push of a bigger character WWE has more riding on.

Winner: Mia Yim

Yim had her first match back since returning to WWE and she did away with Tamina fairly easily. Yim's character progression is going to fun to watch. She seems to fit in well with the O.C. -- who are kind of goofy at the best of times -- and she's got a new nickname. Yim now seems to be going by "michin" which means Crazy in Korean. Even Bianca Belair called her that during an interview when it was revealed that Yim was going to be the fourth member of their War Games team.

Clearly, WWE is making up for the way they dropped the ball with Yim the last time she was on the main roster. She's got to be one of the happier females on the roster right now. She's come back and been elevated immediately.

Winner: Chad Gable

Alpha Academy has picked up two big wins in a row. Last week it was Otis over Elias. This week it was Chad Gable over Matt Riddle. Gable got a bit of help from Otis and his towel to secure the pin, but this was still a great match and a big win for Gable, who has shown off how great he is but often loses his matches. Gable needs to pick up a win now and again and a win over Riddle is a great way to get him back on track.

This was an excellent match and it's extremely impressive how good Gable is.

Winner: Dominik Mysterio

WWE is going in an interesting direction with Dominik. During a backstage segment, he talked a big game to Shelton Benjamin and acted like a spoiled child while Damian Preist was around to protect him. Priest was going to do the fighting for him, which Dom knew, but Shelton answered Dominik's sarcastic challenge. Dominik is quickly becoming one of the more hated heels in WWE and that's exactly what the company wants. Now that they're making him act like an entitled brat, he's going to be hated even more. It's only worse when he can back it up and pick up victories in the ring, which he did. The match itself was solid.

Loser: Dana Brooke

Brooke cut a promo backstage saying she was livid about Damage CNTRL and Nikk Cross spitting in the face of all the hard work she'd done during her time in WWE, including her work with the 24/7 Title, which is a laughable narrative. It's hard to buy the idea that someone really relished being that champion or that they put in a ton of work, blood, sweat and tears to hold it. She said she wasn't going to go down without a fight and then kind of did.

Brooke started her match strong with Iyo Sky, but she certainly didn't finish strong. She got defeated fairly handily and it will be intriguing to see if she's the fifth member of Bianca Belair's War Games team or if WWE sets Brooke aside opting for a bigger name to take that spot.

Loser: MizTV

"Miz"ter Rogers showed up on Monday to "apologize" for his actions in the story that is his confusing few months with Dexter Lumis. He really wasn't there to apologize and Johnny Gargano showed up to call him out on it. Miz was getting upset that they just wouldn't let everyone drop this and move on, but Gargano let him know he would have to face Lumis at Survivor Series. If Lumis won, Miz had to give him all the outstanding money he owed and Lumis was going to get a WWE contract.

Miz yelled at Gargano to pass along a message to Lumis that it would be the worst day of Lumis' life and Gargano said he could tell Lumis himself. Lumis revealed himself to be a cameraman in disguise and he ripped off Miz's cardigan sweater. This wasn't the most original segment, but it does finally set up what will be the finish to the story between these two. It's been a long time coming and the outcome seems fairly obvious.

Winner: Rollins vs. Balor

This was an incredible match, marking the third or fourth solid bout of the evening. These two have great chemistry and while the finish was a bit hokey, it did work to have The O.C. and Judgment Day come down and cause all sorts of chaos. Rollins ended up picking up the win with a Stomp after AJ Styles got involved and threw Balor off the top rope. It was then that Theory came down and attacked Seth Rollins to end the show.
