NXT has basically been in a state of flux ever since it was transformed into NXT 2.0 in 2021. While the brand was definitely in need of a shake-up, it's probably fair to say with the benefit of hindsight that WWE might have shaken a little too hard. NXT 2.0 was a shell of what the three letters once stood for, and after it became clear WWE had gone too far the other way, and after Vince McMahon retired, some of the changes made were reversed.

Changing The NXT Titles

Not all of them since, as already highlighted, changes were needed. NXT 2.0 got some things right, and the perfect landing spot for the brand is somewhere between the black and gold and what it became. Triple H and Shawn Michaels have been trying to find that sweet spot, and it seems having rainbow titles for its top male and female stars is not a change The Game and HBK thought necessary.

That's if something BeltFanDan said this week is anything to go by. “Word on the street is the rainbow NXT belts are going to be replaced with the prior non-colored ones,” the championship aficionado tweeted. Nothing official from WWE just yet, and if it is going to happen, it might well be a case of keeping your eyes peeled to see what Bron Breakker and Roxanne Perez bring to the ring with them in the coming weeks.

Out With The New, In With The Old

Even though NXT became NXT 2.0 in September 2021, it didn't get new multicolored championships until April of this year. Similar to the titles they replaced, the only real difference is the rainbow colors that can be seen behind the NXT logos. Since the multicolored branding, along with the 2.0, was dropped recently, it does add up that WWE would want to change the title designs.

The women's title actually got a new owner this week. Roxanne Perez defeated Mandy Rose, ending the latter's 413-day run with the championship. Turns out WWE wanted the title off Rose so she could be released the following day, apparently letting her go after discovering the content she posts for subscribers on her FanTime page.
