Brock Lesnar was treated like a megastar from the moment he made his main roster debut in 2002. By SummerSlam, he was already crowned the WWE Champion after beating The Rock. He became the face of SmackDown, but by 2004, he was gone. He wasn't gone from the headlines though. Lesnar tried the NFL. He wrestled in Japan. He became a champion in the UFC. When he finally returned to WWE in 2012, he picked up where he left off. With Paul Heyman back by his side, the Beast Incarnate destroyed everyone in his path. He became a multi-time world champion, and even if fans hated his part-time status, we still went nuts every time his music hit.
The last couple of years saw a different Brock Lesnar. The silent heel had grown boring, so Brock reinvented himself as a smiling babyface who wore a cowboy hat and gave funny promos. Surprisingly, it worked. Lesnar felt fresh again, and he began putting over other talent, such as his great feud with Cody Rhodes in 2023, which saw Rhodes besting him in two out of their three matches. Lesnar then went on hiatus, with a planned return for the Royal Rumble, just in time for WrestleMania season. Just last week, WWE was riding high. The Royal Rumble was close, Raw's TV rights had just been sold to Netflix, and The Rock joined the TKO board. Then came the shocking news that Vince McMahon was involved in yet another sex scandal. Former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against McMahon, and she did so with receipts. There were disgusting texts sent from Vince that were so bad that he was forced to resign from TKO and WWE, seemingly ending his time in WWE forever.
Amidst the horrible things learned about Vince McMahon and John Laurinitis was another sickening revelation. In an article for the Wall Street Journal about the scandal, WSJ reporter Khadeeja Safdar wrote:
"In July 2021, the suit said, McMahon instructed Grant to create personalized sexual content for a WWE superstar that he was trying to re-sign. The suit didn’t name the professional wrestler, but described him as both a UFC fighter and WWE talent. People familiar with the matter identified the wrestler as Brock Lesnar, one of WWE’s biggest names."
Janel Grant said that Vince McMahon sent nude photos of her to this person, and told her that sex with this former superstar was part of the deal to bring him back to WWE. Lesnar was never officially named, but it's easy to tell that it's him. If you need more proof, he was pulled from the Royal Rumble match, his spot given to Bron Breakker. It was revealed by the Wrestling Observer that Lesnar was supposed to take on Dominik Mysterio at Elimination Chamber, followed by a dream match against Gunther at WrestleMania 40, but those are now off.

It's hard to imagine that WWE ever brings Brock Lesnar back. When Slim Jim pulled their sponsorship before the Royal Rumble, Vince McMahon's resignation was announced hours later. WWE will be too afraid of losing sponsors, and the wrath of Endeavor's Ari Emanuel, to bring Lesnar back. Perhaps WWE could try to have Lesnar lie low and bring him back later, but that seems highly unlikely. Lesnar's actions aren't going to be forgotten. There is a great chance that Brock Lesnar has made his last appearance ever for WWE.
It's a smart and necessary move for WWE to let Brock Lesnar go. In Triple H's weak post Royal Rumble press conference, he said "everything" was being done to protect women in WWE. If that's true, then Lesnar has to be out. These latest accusations aren't the first time Lesnar has found himself in controversy when it comes to women after all.
It should also be easy for WWE to move on from Lesnar. Not only are the actions of a real person reprehensible, but his character is no longer needed either. Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Gunther are the stars of WWE now. At the age of 46, Brock's best days are behind him. He's no longer world champion material, but an aging legend used to put over the newer stars. Sure, it would have been fun to see him put over Gunther at WrestleMania 40, but Bron Breakker matters more if put in that slot instead. There is no reason, morally or creatively, for WWE to ever do business with Brock Lesnar again.
