Usually Shane McMahon feuds in the WWE are memorable. Believe it or not, he does his best to make sure he stays in the minds of the fans watching. For the most part, he does this by jumping or falling off very high structures. However, sometimes he does this by having legitimately fantastic matches, legitimately horrid matches, or destroying his knee in a matter of seconds. Obviously though, not every single one of his feuds live on in the memories of fans forever. In 2003, Shane McMahon had an extremely strange feud with Eric Bischoff with people like Kane, Stone Cold, Jonathan Coachman, and Linda McMahon having integral roles.

Kane Gives Linda McMahon A Tombstone On The Entrance Ramp
The feud between Shane and Bischoff actually started when Kane, who was on his monster heel run as a psychopath right after his unmasking, tombstoned Linda McMahon. Vince McMahon was alright with it, but Shane was not. He demanded a match against Kane which Bischoff refused to give him under the orders of Vince. Shane and Bischoff started going at it which brought out Stone Cold who was the co-GM of Raw alongside Bischoff at the time. Steve Austin, being a master instigator, told Shane that Bischoff had a little more than a school boy crush on his mother. This fumed Shane, and they had a no holds barred match later that night.

The match went exactly as expected as Bischoff did his karate kicks while Shane connected with his MMA punches. Shane got the upper hand until Kane came out to attack Shane. Shane punched Kane for a little bit until Kane acted like nothing is even happening. He beat down Shane and tombstoned Shane on the steel steps which gave Bischoff the easy victory, but that was not to be the end of it.
Eric Bischoff Forced Himself On Linda McMahon In A Segment Building To SummerSlam
Shane McMahon and Eric Bischoff gets booked for a rematch at SummerSlam. With Shane out selling the attack from Kane, they went a bit overboard with building to this match the week after. On the Raw before SummerSlam, Linda McMahon was giving an at home interview which got interrupted by Eric Bischoff. Linda asked him why he's there and tries to call security, but Bischoff had other plans. He told her he's there to please her, ranted about WCW for some reason, held Linda's arms behind her back, and then forced a kiss on her. Shane then stole a fan's car to drive to his mother's aid.

Shane McMahon Vs Eric Bischoff At SummerSlam Was A Fun, Overbooked Brawl
This feud had Ruthless Aggression Era written all over it. It wasn't the greatest television of all time, but it wasn't the worst either which could also exactly describe their match at SummerSlam. The match started regularly as Shane controlled it handedly. All was well and good until Bischoff enacted his backup plan which was a heel turn from Jonathan Coachman. He attacked Shane with a chair which caused a DQ, but Bischoff then made the match Falls Count Anywhere, and this is where it got fun.
Coachman and Bischoff brutalized Shane for a while. Bischoff then ordered production to shut off the mics for Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. He gave Coachman a mic to give live commentary right from the ring. To be fair, there's no better view. The two guys continued to gain heat for a while until Stone Cold came out. Coachman reminded Stone Cold that he can't get physical with anyone until provoked. This is when Shane shoved Coach into Austin which supposedly counted as provocation, and Stone Cold stunned Coachman. Shane then held up Bischoff and slapped Austin with Bischoff's hand which meant a stunner for Bischoff. Shane did his Leap of Faith elbow drop through the announce table and pinned Eric Bischoff for the win.
The feud was effectively over after this as Shane then went on to fully feud with Kane which of course included the electrocution of the prodigal son. Bischoff did give all their matches stipulations, such as Last Man Standing and the Ambulance Match, to benefit Kane, but for the most part, Bischoff was continuing his issues with Stone Cold.
It's a bit surprising that this feud got lost to time as Bischoff and Shane aren't full time wrestlers, so major feuds would stand out more. Alas, the rivalry between these two just seems to have been mostly forgotten. To be fair, 2003 was a strange year for the company and lots of things were happening, the Kane and Shane feud immediately after was more memorable, and well, segments like Bischoff in Linda's home are probably better off forgotten.
