It's obvious that a good look can go a long way in wrestling. However, it's not always going to lead to success. So many workers looked decent, from big monsters to handsome guys to steamy ladies but couldn't back it up in the ring. Some can overcome it; Kevin Nash and Sid may be bad in-ring workers but made up for it with charisma and mic presence. Despite the pushes and attempts, they can never connect, and in some ways, these reigns end up doing damage to their careers. These are ten wrestlers only given titles off their looks, never any real substance to show just looking the part isn't enough to be a champion in this business.
10 Gunner
TNA had a thing in the 2010s for pushing a lot of guys who seemed big muscle men like Matt Morgan, Crimson and Magnus (who even became World champion). But Gunner was the most generic of the bunch as just another bearded big guy without much flash in the ring.
TNA kept trying, making him both TV champion and holding the tag titles with Morgan, yet fans never caught onto him. Gunner headed to WWE with his controversial run as Jaxson Ryker yet going off just his looks didn't win him favor in TNA.
9 Jillian Hall
It takes a lot to be called the worst Divas champion ever, but Jillian Hall has the unfortunate distinction. The blonde wrestler was best known for angles involving a hideous mole on her face and then being a horrible singer. On the October 12, 2009 RAW, Hall won the Divas championship for no real reason.

She then became one of the shortest titleholders in wrestling history as a returning Melina defeated her for the belt in just a few minutes. Why Hall was given this belt at all other than her looks makes little sense, even for the Divas title.
8 Heidenreich
From the moment he entered WWE, it was clear the company meant for Heidenreich to be a big deal. He looked imposing with his build but then given gimmicks like weird poetry. In 2005, for some reason, WWE put him and Animal together in a new Legion of Doom to win the tag team titles.
Heidenreich looked dumb with the makeup, he and Animal never gelling and leaving the company fast after the team split. It's proof not every big muscleman can, in fact, make it in WWE.
7 Debra
A lot of women in WWE have been given a championship for their looks. But few times has it been so utterly blatant as this. In 1999, Sable was making noise about leaving the company as Women's champion. To give her an embarrassing exit, Sable and Debra faced off in an evening gown title match.

Sable won the match, but WWE Commissioner Shawn Michaels declared Debra the winner and the new champion when he changed the rules. She only held the belt for a month, yet it was a mistake to just hand it to her based on her looks.
6 Sonny Siaki
When TNA began, they were trying to break out more and crafting some homegrown stars. With Sonny Siaki, the company clearly wanted to make its own version of The Rock. He had the same build, look, tattoos to show off and wasn't that bad in the ring.
TNA thought making him X Division champion would be the first step to Siaki becoming a star. But he was bad on the mic and lacked the charisma to make up for his shortcomings. Siaki was out of TNA in a couple of years after various bad pushes and ranks among the worst X Division champs ever rather than the company's successes.
5 Brie Bella
When it comes to wrestling, Nikki Bella actually became a good worker with a long reign as Divas champion. Brie, on the other hand, never really improved in the ring. WWE had her win the belt first for a 70 day reign, with Brie looking the part yet not up for many good matches.

Nikki showed skill and charisma in her reign while Brie was still lacking. It's odd that the Bella Twins ended up being very un-identical when it came to how well they handled the Divas title as Brie was among the worst champions for that belt.
4 The Renegade
One has to feel sorry for Rick Wilson. When WCW couldn't sign on the Ultimate Warrior in 1995, they decided the next best thing was to make their own version. He had the same kind of outfit, long hair, makeup and wild mannerisms. WCW pushed him hard, winning the TV title off of Arn Anderson fast.
Yet the Renegade made the Warrior look like Bret Hart in the ring and fans hated this blatant rip-off. As soon as he lost the belt, the Renegade fell fast and led to a sad end for Wilson. It's a shame the guy got messed up because WCW wanted a lame lookalike.
3 Ezekiel Jackson
It's easy to see why Ezekiel Jackson got a push in WWE. He was well-built, an imposing figure and seemed ready to take off. WWE gave him a lot of opportunities as ECW and Intercontinental champion. The problem was, Jackson wasn't that good in the ring and lacked mic presence and real charisma.

Even when pushed, the fans simply didn't take to him, and Jackson sunk down the rankings quickly before leaving WWE. He had the look, but look isn't always enough to get ahead, even in today's WWE.
2 Sable
There's no denying that Rena Mero changed up the game for women in wrestling in the 1990s. The strikingly beautiful blonde brought a different kind of appeal for the Attitude Era and fans loved watching her. But as an actual wrestler, Sable was quite lacking. Yet in 1998, she went over Luna Vachon, an actual legitimate wrestler, for the newly reactivated Women's title.
She held it in matches that were pretty bad and never actually lost it in a real match before leaving the company. It's still not right Sable got the belt when Luna and other actual wrestlers didn't, all because of her looks.
1 The Great Khali
Vince McMahon has always had an affinity for huge workers but giving the Great Khali a title was one of the worst mistakes he made. The man was an imposing figure to be sure, thanks to his huge height and craggy features, making him a good monster heel.
However, the issue was he was pretty terrible in the ring and sometimes barely mobile. Yet in 2007, Khali won a battle royal for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship in a move fans loathed. His reign wasn't long but still a bad idea by WWE and nothing good, let alone great, came out of it.
