The New World Order expanding with the Wolfpac allowed WCW fans to treat the group as a face act. Even when the original members of the nWo were doing evil things to harm WCW, fans viewed them as a cool act. The merchandise and excitement during their segments made the nWo beloved as heels.

WCW splitting the group into two separate factions with the Wolfpac was the first time fans could cheer for any nWo members. Quite a few things about the group either have been forgotten or are unknown by the average wrestling fan. 10 Randy Savage Was Main Reason For Group Starting
The Wolfpac splitting away from Hulk Hogan is often remembered as Kevin Nash wanting to break out and lead his own version of the New World Order. However, it was Randy Savage to have tension with Hogan first to create the issues.

Hogan cheated Savage out of the WCW Championship just one night after Randy defeated Sting for the title. This infuriated Nash who also sided with Savage against Hogan. Both members played the biggest role in forming the Wolfpac to ditch Hogan and turn face.
9 Kliq Members Used Name Before Official Group
The term of the Wolfpac was used by Kevin Nash quite some time before he split apart from the original version of the New World Order. Nash teamed with Scott Hall and Sean Waltman as Syxx on quite a few occasions in the group.
All three members were best friends who bonded in WWE as part of The Kliq with Shawn Michaels and Triple H. The trio had some great bouts involving names like the Steiner Brothers, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and other WCW stars before the Wolfpac formed.
8 Curt Hennig Betraying Them
One forgotten member of the Wolfpac was Curt Hennig making the jump with the original members. Hennig eventually betrayed the Wolfpac by turning on fellow member Konnan to cost him a match and defect to nWo Hollywood.
The turn showed that wrestlers could jump back and forth between the two versions of the New World Order. Hennig never fit into the Wolfpac as well as the others and was a better addition to Hollywood playing a heel character.
7 Battle Royal For WCW Championship
WCW ran a unique WCW Championship match involving both Wolfpac and Hollywood faction members challenging Goldberg and his undefeated streak. Road Wild 1998 featured a battle royal with the final two wrestlers facing off in a pin fall bout.
The Giant lasted until the end to represent the Hollywood camp over Wolfpac members like Sting, Lex Luger and Kevin Nash. This was done for Goldberg to have the bigger moment of lifting Giant for the jackhammer to retain the title.
6 Miss Elizabeth Betraying Randy Savage
WCW paired the former couple of Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth back together for a run in the New World Order. Elizabeth still had chemistry with Savage as performers to manage him in the memorable feud against Diamond Dallas Page and Kimberly.
The start of the Wolfpac saw Elizabeth remaining with Savage for a short while before the eventual turn. Elizabeth started showing up with Eric Bischoff to provoke Savage, but it just made for awkward television since it made little sense.
5 Bret Hart Vs Sting Dream Match
WCW used the storyline of the New World Order splitting apart to book one of their biggest dream matches. Sting and Bret Hart each used the same finishing move with their respective names of the Scorpion Death Lock and Sharpshooter.

Fans wanted that match for years and it finally happened during the nWo Civil War drama. Bret won the first match via heel tactics by defeating Sting for Hollywood to score a victory over the Wolfpac. The match didn’t live up to the hype due to the booking leading to lackluster results.
4 Randy Savage's Injury
The importance of Randy Savage in the Wolfpac is forgotten at times since he disappeared when they were still growing in popularity. Savage needed to take time off for a surgery and WCW used an angle to write him off television.
WCW booked a cage match between Savage and former rival Diamond Dallas Page that saw nWo Hollywood charging the ring to attack them both. Savage getting hit with a chair in the knee multiple times booked him off television to sell the injury and end his time in the Wolfpac.
3 Sting Winning Tag Titles For Group In Singles Match
The storyline of Sting joining the Wolfpac led to his WCW Tag Team Championship reign with The Giant causing a problem. Giant had already upset Sting by joining nWo Hollywood for another heel turn in the hated faction.
WCW ran the storyline of both men facing off with the winner getting to pick his new tag partner with the belts moving forward. Sting beating Giant kept the tag titles in the Wolfpac with Kevin Nash as his new partner as the tag champs.
2 Wolfpac Carrying Thunder
Eric Bischoff confirmed that the New World Order splitting up was done in part to create enough content for the secondary show Thunder in 1998. Many of the biggest promos from the Wolfpac were specifically booked for Thunder over Nitro.
The Wolfpac theme song even debuted on the secondary program to make fans feel like anything could happen. Thunder would never become anywhere close to Nitro’s importance, but the Wolfpac gave it greater importance in 1998.
1 Lex Luger & Sting's Friendship Used As Big Angle
The biggest storyline of the Wolfpac run was not Kevin Nash winning the WCW Championship nor Randy Savage feuding with Hulk Hogan again. Sting joining after being recruited made it the bigger moment since he feuded with the nWo more than anyone.
Lex Luger joining the Wolfpac first and convincing Sting it was the right move was the hook needed for the move to make sense.
Sting was able to have fun for the first time as a character in years after the Crow version made him more serious. Luger and Sting showed off their friendship in many tag matches and promos representing the red and black.
